BodyWorks is an obesity prevention toolkit designed to help parents and caregivers of young adolescent girls (ages 9-13) improve family eating and activity habits. The program focuses on parents as role models and provides them with hands-on tools to make small, specific behavior changes to help maintain healthy weight and prevent obesity.
BodyWorks was created by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office on Women’s Health following a two-year formative research phase.
Upon completion of this train-the-trainer program, participants will be able to provide complete training in their community.
Workshop Components:
- Publications for parents and teens
- Food and fitness journals
- Video on healthy shopping and cooking strategies
- Recipe book
- Weekly meal planner refrigerator magnet
- Pedometers
- Shopping lists
Fee includes six (6) hours of training.
All pre-workshop materials, including publications for parents and teens, food & fitness journals, video on healthy shopping and cooking strategies, recipe book, weekly meal planner, pedometers and shopping lists, are provided at no cost.
