What is a Health Education Center (HEC)?

Health Education Centers use high-tech and life-sized exhibits, advanced technology, audio-visuals and specialized programs to reach students with
a variety of instructional techniques not generally found in conventional classrooms. The curriculum is designed to enhance and support school mandated areas of study. Programs are taught by professional health educators.

Health Education Centers may be independent or may be affiliated with hospitals, public museums or other public institutions.

"We've finally found a way to put pizzazz into prevention." (Speaking about health education centers)
    C. Everett Koop, MD
Retired U.S. Surgeon General
