Our Mission Statement and Vision

Health education centers serve a vital role in education, especially in the well being of the nation's youth. NAHEC's mission is to promote the development and advancement of health education centers across the United States, and our vision is to provide every kid in the country with access to a Health Education Center.

There are 36 member centers and 18 sustaining members in 24
states and the District of Columbia serving over 2.5 million children
and families every year.

"Our society cannot afford the costs we are paying now and will continue to pay if we do not dramatically improve health education and services for young people."

  • Through partnerships and collaborative efforts, to assist member Health Education Centers in maximizing their ability to fulfill
their individual missions, fundraise and obtain national sponsorships

  • Facilitate the creation of additional HEC's

  • Create a fiscally self-sustaining National Association

  • Influence national policy with regard to health education and create a national dialogue about critical health education issues

  • Provide vehicle for national research and evaluation of HEC programs
