Overview of Workshops
Workshop I: It’s Time! Changing the Community Conversation About Depression(Program Purchase and Training)
Description - Attend this train-the-trainer workshop and leave with all program materials needed to present the program in congregations, schools, civic organizations, and business groups. The program has been presented in greater Milwaukee, WI and nationally.
The “It’s Time!” interactive educational program is designed to decrease the stigma of depression and increase our ability to support those touched by depression through information and open conversation. The program uses the compelling video-stories of diverse individuals, informative slides, art, animation, and music to be led by community health educators to invite participants to enter into the lives of those touched by depression and explore our role in creating a healing environment. The depression program is 1.5-2 hours in length with time for discussion throughout the presentation.

Workshop II: Videoconferencing – The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Description – Videoconferencing can be a very powerful teaching tool if used to its utmost capacity. Whether you’re a novice or experienced in using this technology, come learn how to enhance your teaching skills. In the workshop, you will learn the nuances of the technology and gain an understanding of how to be a successful techno-savvy educator.
Workshop will cover:
- Basic overview of the capacities of the technology
- Attributes and challenges of the technology that impacts learning
- Preparation needed for a successful program
- Classroom management for the remote site
- Communication skills
- Pedagogy that promotes interactivity
- Hands-on experience with the technology
