Type of Membership
There
are five categories of NAHEC membership. They are as follows:
- Full
Membership: Health Education Centers that use high-tech and life-sized
exhibits, advanced technology, audio-visuals and specialized programs
to reach students with a variety of instructional techniques not generally
found in conventional classrooms. The curriculum is designed to enhance
and support school mandated areas of study. Health Education Centers
may be independent or may be affiliated with hospitals, public museums
or other public institutions. Membership benefits include major
listing on the NAHEC website, full access to all website features, bi-monthly
email newsletters, discounts at NAHEC conferences and meetings, including
the Annual Conference, and three copies of the Annual NAHEC Directory
and Resource Manual. Full members are also eligible to participate
in the NAHEC Accreditation Program, which is under development, and
are the only voting members in NAHEC along with future exclusive
benefits and services.
- Associate
Membership: Health Education Centers who are in the planning and/or
building process.
Membership benefits include listing on the NAHEC website, access
to all website features, bi-monthly email newsletters, discounts at
NAHEC conferences and meetings, including the Annual Conference, and
one copy of the Annual NAHEC Directory and Resource Manual.
- Sustaining
Membership: agencies, associations, businesses, companies, and organizations
that offer products and services to Health Education Centers and/or
that have an interest in health education.
Membership benefits include listing on the NAHEC website, access
to all website features, bi-monthly email newsletters, discounts at
NAHEC conferences and meetings, including the Annual Conference exhibit
area and one copy of the Annual NAHEC Directory and Resource Manual.
- Affiliate Membership: health education exhibits and programs in museums, children's museums or science centers.
Membership benefits include listing in NAHEC promotional materials, listing on the NAHEC
web site, full access to all web site areas including free listings in Job Opportunities
section, bi-monthly email newsletters, access to the NAHEC listserv, Best Practices sharing
among members, discounts at NAHEC conferences and professional development programs and on
NAHEC publications and reports, and one copy of the Annual NAHEC Directory and Resource Manual.
- International Membership: health education exhibits and programs in health education centers, museums, or science centers outside the United States.
Membership benefits include listing in NAHEC promotional materials, listing on the
NAHEC web site, full access to all web site areas including free listings in Job
Opportunities section, bi-monthly email newsletters, access to the NAHEC listserv,
Best Practices sharing among members, discounts at NAHEC conferences and professional
development programs and on NAHEC publications and reports, and one copy of the Annual
NAHEC Directory and Resource Manual.
